While browsing the internet's more wonderful pockets of fact and memorabilia (some would call this procrastination, but I prefer to call it "research") I came across an interview of
Maria Abramovic, a performance artist who has been credited with being a strong forward force in the field. However, unlike being interviewed by a reporter or TV personality, she is interviewed by James Franco (Freaks and Geeks, Pineapple Express, 127 Hours) which makes it seem more of a blending of the arts. They cook together and talk about religious practices in foreign cultures, amongst other things.
I am trying to find a longer copy of this (it's from the Wall Street Journal), but in the meantime, I should mention that I came across this on
Awesome People Hanging Out Together, a photoblog which is inspiring and sometimes rather curious, like this gem - Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails), Jon Stewart, and Marilyn Manson hanging out together.
I would like to comment on the Maria and James video which I found inspirational and beautiful and amazing!! I have (some) respect now for this actor who I dismissed as a fool prior to this enchanting video- I have always loved this artist's work- she is magnificent- a goddess. Thanks for this, so good. I am working in every area of my life towards most of the things she is talking about- thank you

Gloria I have two strong film recommendations for you.
ReplyDeleteOne is Howl (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1049402/), about Allen Ginsberg, and 127 Hours (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1542344/) about Aron Ralston, a mountaineer who lost his arm during a canyon run day hike a few years back. Both are James Franco films from the last year, I believe he's a rather talented actor and engagingly smart.
